Colorado continues to fill out its roster by adding some depth through the transfer portal.

On Friday night, two players verbally committed to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders: former Northwestern offensive lineman Cooper Lovelace and former North Alabama linebacker Shaun Myers.

Lovelace comes to CU as a seventh-year senior who is taking advantage of an NCAA waiver that grants an extra year of eligibility in 2025-26 to all student-athletes who spent at least one year at a non-NCAA school. He recently took a visit to South Carolina before committing to the Buffs.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds by Northwestern, Lovelace spent three years (2019-2021) at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan. He then played two seasons at USC before transferring to Northwestern last year.

Last season, Lovelace started nine games at left guard for Northwestern. An injury late in the year caused him to miss a game, but he played 10 snaps at center against Michigan late in game No. 11 and returned to his starting spot at guard the next week.

Overall, Lovelace played the fourth-most snaps on the line for Northwestern (566), allowing just one sack.

During his two seasons at USC, Lovelace played in seven games off the bench. He played 47 total snaps, seeing time at right guard, left guard and right tackle.

After playing just one season at Shawnee Mission East (Kan.) High School, Lovelace redshirted at Butler in 2019. After the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19, he played in 2021 before transferring to USC.

In adding Lovelace, CU now has 16 scholarship offensive linemen, nine of which have been signed through the transfer portal. CU has added five transfer linemen since the end of spring practice in April.

Myers will add to the competition at inside linebacker. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior from Dayton, Ohio, was an eight-game starter at North Alabama in 2023.

This past year, Myers started the first two games for the Lions, recording five tackles, before a season-ending injury. In 2023, Myers played in all 11 games, posting 58 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions. He started seven of 11 games in 2022, posting 42 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Myers began his college career in 2021 at Hocking College, a community college in Nelsonville, Ohio. In nine games that year, he recorded 41 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and an interception.

At Colorado, he joins a linebacker group that has just one returning player from last year — senior Jeremiah Brown — among the six on scholarship. Myers is the fourth transfer addition, along with Martavius French (UTSA), Reginald Hughes (Jacksonville State) and Kylan Salter (TCU). True freshman Mantrez Walker is also in the mix.

CU unofficially has 77 players on scholarship for this next season.
