LOWELL >> More than two months after 71-year-old Leon “Leo” Langlais vanished, the search for the missing Lowell man presses on.
According to his son, Jason Langlais, authorities recently confirmed with him that there have been no new breakthroughs in the case.
“No new leads, no new information,” Jason Langlais said on Sunday afternoon. “They continue to search. They said they are going to keep searching until they find him, but now with the warmer weather, they can get out there in force and use some different technologies to try to see if they can find him.”
Jason Langlais said that search efforts have extended as far as Lawrence, yet the whereabouts of his father remain a mystery.
“One day at a time,” he said. “It’s really all we can do. Just wait.”
Leo Langlais, a retired father and grandfather, went missing on Jan. 24. He lives with his wife, Patricia Langlais, on Burnham Road in the Belvidere neighborhood and was last seen on foot near outer Andover Street. The family has urged anyone who may have noticed something — no matter how small — between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on that day in the Trull Brook area, near the Lowell-Tewksbury line, to contact the Lowell Police. Jason Langlais has said that doorbell and dash cam footage captured his father walking in that area.
On the day Leo Langlais went missing, he left home without leaving a note — something he would normally do — or bringing his cellphone. His wife was
bsky.social.at work at the time.
The family has said he has no known health or cognitive issues.
Leo Langlais is 5-foot-5, 165 pounds, with salt and pepper hair, a mustache, and blue eyes. He was believed to be wearing a camel-colored jacket and a black knit cap at the time of his disappearance.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Lowell Police at 978-937-3200.
