Aptos High’s girls tennis team won three singles matches and two doubles matches to secure a 5-2 win over Scotts Valley in the teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League match on Tuesday.

Two of the four singles matches went to a tiebreaker and the Mariners pulled out both wins. Aviana Andrews edged Sofia Niklaus 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 2 singles, and Isabella Calderon slipped past Ava Keller 6-0, 4-6, 1-0, (10-7) at No. 4

The Mariners’ Kiana Safari beat Aila Papadopoulos 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and the Falcons’ Erin Szymanski beat Coral Collins 6-1, ret., at No. 3.

At No. 2 doubles, Scotts Valley’s Skylar Dufour and Monserrat Burgos-Saavedra beat Aracely Ritchie and Gia Arista in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-6, 1-0.

The Mariners’ Natalia Calderon and Charlotte Long beat Riya Kuriakose and Maya Wexler 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Neci Hoeptner and Julia Blevins beat Dillon Fiorita and Georgia Chetcuti 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3.

Aptos (8-3, 7-0) hosts Harbor on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Mariners will lock up no worse than a share of the league title with a win.

At Soquel 7, San Lorenzo Valley 0 >> Malia Martin won 6-3, 6-3 over Abi Krepelka at No. 1 singles, and the Knights earned a sweep in their SCCAL match Tuesday.

Addie Somerville, Sofia Arnulfo, and Kassidy Siebert didn’t drop a game in their straight sets singles wins.

Ayla Hymes and Lucy Federspiel, and Adeline Vaughn-Jones and Cam Jensen earned doubles wins in straight sets for the Knights (4-3). SLV defaulted at No. 3 doubles.

Girls golf

Scotts Valley 129, at SLV 166 >> Lauren Ohlsson (27) edged teammate Maisey Chard (28) for medalist honors, and the Falcons prevailed in their SCCAL match on the first six holes at Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.

Ohlsson shot par on hole Nos 1, 3, 5 and 6. Chard earned birdie on No. 1 and par on No. 5. SV’s Lizzie Goldfield and SLV’s Atkinson both shot par on No. 1.

Goldfield (31) and Becca Ervine (43) also scored Falcons (9-0).

Sadie Bell (37), Atkinson (41), Lexi Munoz (43), and Ella Cook 45) scored for the Cougars (6-3).

Soquel 170, Harbor 177 >> The Pirates’ Olivia Strusis-Bregante shot 40 on the first six holes for medalist honors at DeLaveaga Golf Course on Tuesday, but the Knights won the SCCAL match.

Olivia Strusis-Bregante (40), Sadie Morey (42), and Felicia Fernandez (46) also scored for the Pirates (0-8). All four Pirates shot personal bests.

Chelsea Myers, Hailey Helgueros, and Leah Tuttman each shot 42 for the Knights. Soquel also counted a 44, which was shot by both Cassidy Perry and Isis Tumason.

Girls water polo

At Aptos 7, Santa Cruz 6 >> Goalie Mary Suarez-Abraham made 12 saves, and the Mariners earned the narrow SCCAL win Tuesday.

Madi Knudsen led the Mariners with three goals. Senior Adriana Santillano scored twice, and Adelaide Friedley and Scarlet Glietsman Miller each scored one goal.

At Soquel 18, Harbor 4 >> Sophomore Liz Penny had five goals and four steals in the Knights’ SCCAL win Tuesday.

Junior Natalie Salerno scored three goals for the Knights (11-5, 4-0). Natasha Ackerstein had two goals and four assists, and sophomore Izzy Bridi-Milligan had two goals and two assists.

Junior Makena Hansen made four steals, and junior Alice Oudard made three steals.

Boys water polo

Santa Cruz 14, at Aptos 1 >> Hayden Johnson scored four goals and the Cardinals earned the SCCAL win Tuesday.

Pakalani Vaka-Saxton had three goals and two assists for Santa Cruz (15-3, 5-0). Xavier Hunter and Matthias Cruz each scored twice. Nikolaus Kay had a goal and four assists, and Tate Wilson and Drake Harper also scored.

Taj Rios scored the Mariners’ goal. Aptos goalie Massimo Lopez had seven saves. Gavin Abundis, Henry Widman and Taj Rios each had one shot block to add to the Mariners’ defensive efforts.

At Soquel 18, Harbor 4 >> Cash Wolf had four goals, two assists, and two steals in the Knights’ SCCAL win Tuesday.

Stryder Stelck, Cane Mitchell, and Nico Palandrani each scored three goals for the Knights. Travis Yates, Noah Piona, Noaj Mitnick, Jake Martinez, and Kai Keenan each added a goal.

Senior goalie Jacob Henshaw had 11 saves, three assists and three steals.

Soquel (14-6, 4-1) plays at Santa Cruz on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Girls volleyball

At Scotts Valley 3, Mount Madonna 0 >> Junior outside hitter Rylee Giesen had 10 kills and seven digs in the Falcons’ 25-18, 25-15, 25-9 SCCAL sweep Tuesday.

Junior outside hitter Hayden Smith had 12 kills and two aces for the Falcons, and Sophomore Maddie Pipal had three blocks and two aces. Sophomore setter Ava Dumesny served six aces.

The Falcons (14-6, 5-3) host Harbor (16-9, 9-0) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

At Soquel 3, Santa Cruz 0 >> Claire Petersen led the Knights with 11 kills and 16 digs in their 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 sweep in SCCAL action Tuesday.

Sadie Holden had nine kills and 12 digs for Soquel. Jillian Winterburn had six kills and two digs, and Ava Giorgianni had five kills, two digs, and two blocks. Lily Juarez-Sapone had 17 assists, seven digs and two aces, and Mia Riddle had 12 assists and 10 digs. Gianna Audisio had three assists and 14 digs

Soquel (10-11, 7-3) hosts Mount Madonna on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

UC Santa Cruz 1, at Fresno Pacific 1 >> Soren Groessl finished off a pass from Axel Nyman in the 77th minutes, and the Banana Slugs overcame an own goal in the 13th minute to secure a draw Tuesday.

UCSC (4-1-7) plays at California Lutheran (5-5-3) in Thousand Oaks on Saturday at 1 p.m.

At Cabrillo 0, Chabot 0 >> The Seahawks had 12 shots on goal in their Coast Conference North Division match Tuesday.

Cabrillo (5-3-3, 3-1-1) plays at Cañada (5-2-5, 1-2-2) on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Cabrillo 2, at Las Positas 1 >> The Seahawks scored in the 30th and 70th minutes to secure their first win in Coast Conference North Division action Tuesday.
