CU seeks volunteers to help with bee collections

The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History is looking for volunteers to help digitize its bee collections.

The project, Big-Bee Bonanza, uses the online platform Notes from Nature.

Volunteers will view pictures of bee specimens and transcribe information from the handwritten or typed labels into an online database. Anyone can participate by visiting tinyurl.com/28cw79wu.

Members of the public can also stop by the museum from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at 1035 Broadway in Boulder to learn more about the project.

RTD opens three new bike shelters at bus stops

Broomfield is now home to three new bike shelters at RTD stops in the city and county.

The structures, known as “Bike-n-Ride shelters,” are at the U.S. 36 Broomfield Station (eastbound side) and east and westbound U.S. 36 Flatirons stations. They provide locked and covered bike storage for commuters along the highway.

LONGMONT

Entertainment center Winner’s Circle to open Winner’s Circle, a locally owned and operated family entertainment center, will open on Monday.

Winner’s Circle will offer an arcade, duckpin bowling, digitally scored ax throwing, miniature golf, a restaurant, two full-service bars and a private event space at 2251 Ken Pratt Blvd, Suite A, in Longmont.

Winner’s Circle will be open seven days a week with varying hours. Monday through Thursday, it will be open 11 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

ERIE

Crews respond to fire in Vista Ridge neighborhood

Mountain View Fire Rescue crews responded around 9: 30 p.m. on Sunday to a house fire in Erie.

No residents or fire personnel were injured during the fire; two people were inside the home, but got out in time, according to a Mountain View Fire Rescue’s Facebook post.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but Mountain View Fire Rescue will be the investigating agency.

The second floor and the rear of the home suffered the most significant damage, according to the post.

Responding agencies include Mountain View Fire Rescue, the Lafayette Fire Department, the Louisville Fire Department and Erie Police Department.
