Amy D’Aprile, Michigan CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children) board secretary, is running 100 miles from Oct. 11-14, to help raise money for the nonprofit which advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children in Michigan’s foster care system, according to a press release.

Her 100-mile run began Friday, Oct. 11, and will take 3-4 days. This is D’Aprile’s third year running to support Michigan CASA.

“This organization has touched my heart and demonstrates how volunteers can change the lives of abused and neglected children by giving them a voice in a very difficult situation,” said D’Aprile.

Her 100-mile run will include trails in the communities of South Haven, Kalamazoo, Jackson, Galesburg, Concord, South Lyon, Lyon Township, Milford, Wixom, Walled Lake, Commerce Township, West Bloomfield, Pontiac, Auburn Hills, Rochester and Rochester Hills.

• Day 1: Kal-Haven Trail and Kalamazoo River Valley Trail

• Day 2: Falling Waters Trailhead and Falling Waters Trailhead

• Day 3: Mike Levine Lakelands Trail, Huron Valley Trail, Michigan Airline Trail, West Bloomfield Trail

• Day 4: Clinton-River Trail

Judson Center raises $75K in ‘Pull! for Kids’

Judson Center’s 15th annual “Pull! for Kids” sporting clays tournament raised more than $75,000 to benefit Child Safe Michigan’s foster care, adoption and mentoring services for neglected and abused children in Southeast Michigan, according to a press release.

The event was held Sept. 19, at the Detroit Golf Club in Walled Lake.

“Each year, this event generates much-needed funds that enable us to expand our ability to reach more children and families who need the services of Child Safe Michigan,” said Judson Center President & CEO Lenora Hardy-Foster.

Guests, ranging from novices to pro shooters, participated in a 16-station sporting clays course.

Child Safe Michigan, an affiliate of Judson Center, provides foster care, adoption, and mentoring services to neglected and abused children in Southeast Michigan. For more information, visit www.childsafemichigan.org.

Kiwanis Club of South Oakland County receives $2,500 grant to support youth aging out of foster care

The Kiwanis Club of South Oakland County, a nonprofit that assists foster care youth who are aging out of the system, recently received a $2,500 grant from the Michigan Association of Health Plans, according to a press release.

The grant will help fund the Kiwanis Club event, Fostering the Arts 4, to raise awareness about foster care services in Southeast Michigan.
