NOTES: This will be CU’s first Big 12 Conference game since a loss in penalty kicks against Texas A&M in the 2010 Big 12 tournament. The Buffs joined the Pac-12 the following year. However, this will be CU’s first matchup against Kansas State, which started play in women’s soccer in 2016. … CU dropped one spot to No. 19 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches top 25. … The Buffs have played just one road game, winning 1-0 at UNC Greensboro on Aug. 29. Three days later, CU had a game canceled at North Carolina State due to poor weather. … CU goalie Jordan Nytes has not allowed a goal in her past five games, and her scoreless streak of 429 minutes, 11 seconds is the seventh-longest in program history. … The Buffs played without leading scorer Shyra James during Sunday’s win against Weber State, but they have enjoyed more balanced production so far this season. James scored 15 of CU’s 37 goals last year (40.5%). Her team-leading five goals accounts for 31.3% of this year’s goals for the 6-1 Buffs. … Kansas State went 3-3-1 in nonconference play and is coming off a 2-0 loss at No. 7 Memphis on Sunday. The Wildcats have not scored a goal in the past two games. … After this game, the Buffs won’t play again until next Sept. 19 at Oklahoma State.

NOTES: A busy opening few weeks of the season continues for the Buffaloes, who take a 4-2 mark into the Wednesday state rivalry battle against Northern Colorado (5-2). … This weekend, CU hosts its second consecutive multi-game showcase with three games at the Buffs Classic. By the time the Buffs Classic is complete, CU will have opened the season with nine matches in 17 days. … Like Sunday’s defeat against Washington, the Buffs Classic will feature a matchup with a former Pac-12 rival, with CU hosting California on Saturday. … The Buffs recorded a sweep of the UNC Bears last year in Greeley. … Following this weekend’s Buffs Classic, the Buffs will play rival Colorado State in a home-and-home series beginning Sept. 19 in Fort Collins and concluding the following night at the Events Center.
Notable
The CU women’s lacrosse team recently added former player Ashley Stokes and Bailey Cheetham to the coaching staff. Stokes was a first team All-Pac-12 selection for the Buffs earlier this year after recording 37 goals and 30 assists while playing all 19 games. … Cheetham is a former midfielder for Johns Hopkins. … Lacrosse head coach Ann Elliott Whidden served as an assistant coach for the USA U20 team, which won gold at the World Lacrosse 2024 Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong. CU sophomore Emily Dodd won silver as part of Team Canada. … The CU women’s tennis team starts its fall schedule this week, beginning the Battle in the Bay Classic on Thursday in San Francisco. … The CU cross country teams return to action on Sept. 21 at the Roadrunner Invite hosted by the University of Denver.
