Old mill roof work slated for summer
The City Council has approved a budget adjustment to replace the roof at the 1834 Reed Mill in Old Mill Park.
The project will cost $90,000 and include historically accurate shingles, according to a report by Chuy Beltran, the public works superintendent. The cost is being shared equally by the city, the Mill Valley Friends of Parks and Recreation and the steering committee of the Mill Valley 125th anniversary celebration.
“The work area will be fenced off for the duration of the work,” Beltran wrote. “The layout of the fence will allow the park to be open but will cut off creek access from the Old Mill to Cascade Drive.”
The work is expected to start in June and be completed by the end of August.
