Monarch point guard Natalie Guanella, the Daily Camera player of the year, and Mead guard Kyra Haan, the Longmont Times-Call’s winner, led 16 girls from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas to make the Colorado High School Activities Association’s all-state team.

Guanella made the Class 6A first team after averaging 15.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.8 steals during her senior season. Behind her, the Coyotes reached their third title game in program history.

Haan made the 5A first team, going for 14.7 points. 6.4 boards, 4.2 steals and 3.4 assists. The Mavericks fell in the quarterfinals.

The other local first teamers were from Class 4A state champ Holy Family, which had stars in guard Essynce Contreraz and forward Fiona Snashall. Contreraz was often the spark plug offensively for the Tigers with 10.7 PPG and 4.8 assists. Snashall, a player coach Ron Rossi called the most improved in the state, averaged 11.5 points and 10.5 boards.

Alexandra Eschmeyer, a 6-foot-4 sophomore made the 4A second team after averaging 19.5 points, 14 boards and 4.9 blocks while leading Peak to Peak to the state second round. As did Holy Family defensive guru Julia Hodell (9.2 PPG, 3.9 SPG) and Mead’s Charlotte Brennan (9.4 PPG, 3.4 APG).

For honorable mentions, Broomfield’s Sophie Christopher (11 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4.4 SPG), Erie’s Maddie Hartel (14.5 PPG), Legacy’s Madison Gage (16.2 PPG) and Olivia Mortensen (17.3 PPG, 12.3 RPG), and Monarch’s Amelia Rosin (11.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG) and Arezo Safi (10.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG) made the 6A list.

Centaurus’ Laura Gensert (14.2 PPG) made the 5A list, finishing her career with 1,208 points. So did Frederick’s Savanna Staff (10.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG).

Prospect Ridge Academy’s Kayah Robbins made the 3A list, averaging 14.1 points and 12.1 boards in her sophomore season.
