Coroner IDs worker killed in weekend construction accident

A construction worker killed in Louisville over the weekend has been identified by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office as Eli Gabriella, 40.

Louisville police said Gabriella was crushed by a piece of equipment in a work-related incident Saturday in the 300 block of Troon Court.

Police said the case remains under investigation, and no further information was releasable at this time.

Local woman identified as fatal crash victim

The Boulder County Coroner has identified the victim who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Monday night near Lyons as 35-year-old Heather Featheringill, of Lyons.

Prior to the crash, Featheringill had been traveling eastbound on U.S. 36 just west of Lyons, said Trooper Gabriel Moltrer of the Colorado State Patrol.

She was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna and had a 6-year-old boy in the car with her who was in a forward-facing child seat.

At about 8:50 p.m., as Featheringill neared Groover Road (mile marker 19), she approached a sweeping left-hand curve and her vehicle went off the right side of the road, according to Moltrer. The vehicle went airborne off an embankment, rolled end over end multiple times, and finally came to rest on its wheels.

Moltrer said Featheringill, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead by a medic on the scene. The boy, who has not been publicly identified, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Alcohol and drugs were not thought to have played a part in the crash, Moltrer said, but excessive speed may have been a factor.

The coroner will complete an examination, and Featheringill’s cause and manner of death are under investigation.

Shooting involves students from several city high schools

Police are investigating a shooting they said may involve high school students in Brighton, with all suspects in custody.

The shooting happened in the area of South Ninth Avenue and Bush Street, police said in a 1:09 p.m. Wednesday tweet.

The shooting scene was a couple of blocks north of Brighton High School.

Police found shell casings in the intersection but no victims when they responded, Brighton Police Chief Matt Domenico said in a Wednesday afternoon news conference. A victim took themselves to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The investigation led police to the area of Prairie View High School, where they contacted a vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting, Domenico said. Two people were arrested in the area of East 120th Avenue and Salem Street, and Prairie View High was placed on lockdown at about 12:30 p.m.

Another person was taken into custody “a little later,” Domenico said, noting police believe they have all suspects in custody.
