Detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are reportedly searching for a 21-year-old man suspected of firing a gun multiple times into a Pontiac townhome on Wednesday afternoon.

A 67-year-old woman was in the townhome at the time but wasn’t struck by the gunfire, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were called to the scene of the shooting on the city’s east side — in the 600 block of Newman Lane in the Newman Court Apartments complex, north of University Drive and west of Opdyke Road — on a report of shots fired, at around 1:40 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

The residence had been hit by bullets multiple times, and deputies found spent shell casings nearby, the sheriff’s office said.

An investigation led to a vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects, as it was pulling into Hawthorne Park on Telegraph Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Three men in the vehicle were questioned and released, the sheriff’s office said. As of mid-afternoon Friday, the shooter was still at-large.
