A judge cut a married couple’s bail Friday in a July fight at The Wheel restaurant in Hammond.

John Kilpatrick and Michelle Valle, both 41, were each charged with seven felonies, including intimidation and battery. They are each charged with three misdemeanors.

Both pleaded not guilty Friday.

Valle is charged with fighting three women in the parking lot, while an affidavit alleges Kilpatrick briefly pulled a gun on the other women.

Their bail had been set at $8,000 cash surety each. His bond was cut to $2,000 cash surety, while Valle’s is now $1,000 cash surety, respectively. Their next court date is Dec. 19.

Hammond police responded at 5:30 a.m. July 19 to the restaurant, 7430 Indianapolis Blvd.

The three women, who said they drank that evening, said they were leaving when Valle was going inside the restaurant and thought they were laughing at her. An argument turned into a brief physical fight in the parking lot.

They said Valle fueled the fight. One woman said her “life flashed before her eyes” when Kilpatrick pointed a gun at her.

Valle later told police she and Kilpatrick went to the diner after their midnight shift. The order took too long, so she was headed inside to check.

“What is this ugly (expletive) looking at,” Valle said another woman said on the way out.

Valle told cops she had “anger issues” and was a “fighter.”

Deputy Prosecutor Adam Martin said Valle and Kilpatrick were equally to blame.

The couple’s defense lawyer John Cantrell argued to Judge Salvador Vasquez the three women instigated the fight with Valle and a security video would bear that out. Kilpatrick pulled out a gun but put it away when things calmed down, the lawyer said.
