The Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department presents its 51st annual Memorial Day weekend barbecue and live music bash from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Santos Meadows near Muir Beach.
Members of the volunteer fire department will dish out a spread of barbecued chicken, baked beans, garlic bread and green salad.
Vegetarian and vegan tamale plates will come from La Palma Mexicatessen in San Francisco’s Mission District, with salsa from Joe’s Taco Lounge in Mill Valley and hot sauce from Vallejo-based Black Bee Hot Sauce Co., founded by Biambu Garrett, who grew up in Marin. A variety of sweet and savory crepes will also be offered.
Desserts are made in the Green Gulch Farm kitchen by community bakers using organic ingredients donated by Good Earth Natural Foods in Mill Valley.
Lagunitas Brewing Co. will supply kegs of craft beer, and premium red, white, rosé and sparkling wines are thanks to local contributors. Coffee and sodas will also be available. Outside beverages are not permitted.
Reggae dance band Lumanation and classic rock group Andre’s All-Stars will be there to keep the crowd moving, and kids have their own dedicated play area.
The purchase of food, beverages, raffle tickets and merchandise is encouraged and appreciated.
Proceeds help support construction of a new firehouse near the Muir Beach Overlook.
Entry is $30 per vehicle or $10 for walkers and cyclists. Santos Meadows is at 2704 Muir Woods Road in Muir Beach. For more information, go to muirbeachfire.com.
