Harker basketball player Isabella Lo is the girls athlete of the week, and Independence basketball player Joshua Villanueva is the boys athlete of the week for Jan. 27-Feb. 1.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Lo finished with 38.32% of the votes. Alameda basketball player Mia Borja took second with 33.26%.

In the boys poll, Villanueva took first place with 42.55% of the vote. Santa Teresa basketball player Evan Guillermo took second with 31.13%.

Lo, a senior, paced Harker with 26 points as the Eagles beat Castilleja 53-35 at home.

Villanueva, also a senior, scored a game-high 26 points in Independence’s 65-35 win over Piedmont Hills to help the Sixers remain unbeaten in league play.
