After winning both league titles in boys and girls lacrosse this past season, Marin Catholic swept the MCAL Player of the Year honors when the league released some of its all-league honors on Saturday.
MC’s Marek Elia and Elsa Greene were the top players for boys and girls lacrosse, respectively.
The MCAL also released its selections for boys tennis, plus swimming and diving. Tam’s Witt Bulger was the player of the year in tennis. Terra Linda’s Ben Butler and Tam’s Addison Everage were the top swimmers. Novato’s Leo Hernandez and Redwood’s Katerina Hersch were the top divers.
The full list of all-league honors for all spring sports will run in print when the Marin IJ selects its players of the year at some point after all the sports conclude.
Boys lacrosse
MC placed six more players on the MCAL first team with attackers Jake Holmes and Tate Sedlachek, midfielder Auggie Chapman, face-off Alex Buck, defender Jack Herold, plus goalie Tanner Warne.
Redwood put three players on the first team — John Anderluh, Graham Weir, and Reed Werner. Tam’s Quinn Harte and Price Jeffris were also selected, along with Novato’s Tyler Smith.
Girls lacrosse
MC finished the regular-season in third place before springing a pair of upsets to win the league title. The Wildcats are represented on the first team by Marlee Nies, Greenley Achuck, and goalie Gianna Rinaldi.
Players from Redwood and Tam — the top two seeds — make up the majority of the first team. The Giants placed Lucy Miller, Lucy Jeffers, and Nina Baker on the squad. The Red-tailed Hawks are represented by Ellie McEvilley, Quinlin Dayton, and Mia Yolles.
Other players to make the grade for first team were San Marin’s Alex Chamberlain and Quincy Dean, Novato’s Ava Lawrence, plus Branson’s Audrey Spaly.
Boys tennis
Redwood went undefeated during the regular season and won the team title so it wasn’t a big surprise that half of the six first-team singles players — Julian Zhang, Casra Afsharipour, and Will Greenwald — were Giants.
San Rafael’s Forrest Reilly, Branson’s Chase Hoeveler, and MC’s Jack Millar were the other selections.
Three of the six doubles players selected are from Branson with Leighton Fraser, Tommie Higgins, and James Stovell. Redwood’s Liam Martinez, plus MC’s duo of Charlie Miller and Qas Vidarthi were the other selections.
