A Matteson man has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon after police found two loaded guns in his car during a traffic stop, Cook County sheriff’s police said Thursday.

Sheriff’s police pulled over a car at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Avenue and U.S. 30 in Ford Heights after a check of the license plate showed the driver’s license was suspended, police said.

A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded .380 caliber handgun and a loaded 9 mm handgun along hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a hunting knife, two black ski masks and a bag containing what is believed to be marijuana, police said.

Keith Owens, 24, had bail set at $20,000 during a court hearing Thursday in Markham, police said.
