If the walls of the Lodge at Marconi could talk, they’d sure have a lot of stories to tell. The West Marin property, which was originally built in 1914, has had many lives over the years, from its time as a radio receiving station used by Guglielmo Marconi, who’s often credited as the “inventor of radio,” to being a home base of the Synanon cult to its current incarnation as a coastal retreat designed and managed by Oliver Hospitality.
Learn more about its unique history during a two-part series by Hotel History, a podcast that’s dedicated toward uncovering stories behind some of the world’s most iconic and unusual hotels. Co-hosts Yael Lilit and D’Etta Brown visited the property and spoke to hotel manager Leah Fritts Vitali about the property’s history over the last 100-plus years.
“The Lodge at Marconi is one of those places that captures the heart of a destination,” said Brown in a press release. “Every unique touch grounds you in its history while adding to the serene and cozy atmosphere. We love that the lodge embraces every aspect of its past while making the most of its present.”
