


Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby will be sidelined for several weeks after having surgery on his wrist.
The procedure on Wednesday was to repair a broke hamate bone in his left wrist and was done by hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix, the team said Friday. The recovery timeline is six to eight weeks.
Norby felt wrist soreness during Miami’s road series at Baltimore last week and was initially listed with wrist inflammation.
The Marlins acquired Norby from Baltimore last summer in the trade that also landed first-time All Star Kyle Stowers in Miami.
Norby has a .241 average and .289 on-base percentage, six home runs and 26 RBIs in 72 games this season. He was sidelined the first two months of the season with an oblique injury.
D-backs’ Marte on restricted list
Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte was placed on the restricted list after his home was burglarized during the All-Star break.
Marte was not in the lineup Friday night gainst St. Louis as he deals with what Scottsdale police called a “high-dollar residential burglary” while he and his family were in Atlanta for the All-Star game.
The Diamondbacks made a flurry of moves before their first game back from the All-Star break, bringing up catcher Adrian Del Castillo and right-hander Trevor Richards from Triple-A Reno. Arizona also optioned infielder Tristan English to Reno and signed infielder Sergio Alcántara as a major league free agent.
Catcher Gabriel Moreno was transferred to the 60-day injured list with a broken finger suffered when he was hit by a pitch last month.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl tied a major league record when he was hit by a pitch three times by three different New York Mets hurlers. The 5-foot-8 Friedl was plunked on the left forearm by a 91-mph fastball from left-hander Sean Manaea in the third inning and on the left foot by an 85 mph slider from right-handed reliever Alex Carrillo in the fifth. Mets lefty Brandon Waddell then drilled Friedl on the left hand with a 91 mph sinker in the eighth.
First baseman Rowdy Tellez was added to the Rangers’ roster and was in the lineup Friday night for their first game after the All-Star break. Tellez signed a minor-league deal with Texas on July 5 and had been at Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers also put outfielder Sam Haggerty on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Tuesday, with left ankle inflammation.
The Rockies reinstated Gold Glove shortstop Ezequiel Tovar from the 10-day injured list. Tovar was hitting .258 with three homers and 10 RBIs in 32 games before straining his left oblique muscle and going on the IL June 2.
Baltimore right-hander Grayson Rodriguez had a setback in his comeback from an elbow injury and the Orioles have shut him down indefinitely.
Guardians All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan was out of the lineup for Friday’s game against the Athletics due to nagging right wrist soreness.
Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick landed on the injured list with a hamstring strain.
