


The San Rafael Pacifics scored twice in the top of the ninth to tie the game against Monterey, but the host Amberjacks singled and doubled in the bottom of the frame to walk off with an 11-10 victory on Sunday.
The loss was just the second of the season for the Pacifics (11-2 Pecos League), who hit the road for a two-game series against Bakersfield on Monday and Tuesday.
Fred Buckson hit a triple for San Rafael, scoring Gino Hutchinson and Payton Rios to tie the game at 10-10. Monterey won the game on an RBI double by Luis Medina.
The Amberjacks stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning but the Pacifics battled back with a five-run seventh inning to pull within 10-8. Buckson and John Bicos had three hits apiece for San Rafael. Buckson drove in three runs and Blake Diggle had two RBIs.
San Rafael was coming off a 10-4 win against Vallejo on Saturday night. The Pacifics scored three times in the second, four in the fourth, and three more in the fifth to quickly pull away from the Seaweed.
Diggle had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Pacifics in both categories. Bicos had two hits and two RBIs.

Ellie McCuskey-Hay took second in the javelin, earning a medal at the 2025 Golden West Invitational at Cordova High in Rancho Cordova this weekend.
McCuskey-Hay, competing in the girls high school division, threw the javelin a personal record of 102 feet and also set a PR in the shot put with 29’10.5? to place ninth.
Kennedy Foster secured a pair of top-10 finishes, taking fifth in the girls 13-14 800 meters in 2 minutes, 31.77 seconds. Foster took eighth in the girls high school 1,500 in 5:35.75.
Nico Martinez (boys 11-12) also placed inside the top 10 in two events — fourth in the long jump (10’8?) and eighth in the 100 (16.89), both PRs.
Other top performers included Quinn Hughes (Girls 13,14, 11th in long jump, 13th in 100 hurdles, 19th in 100); Allison McCarthy (Girls 13-14, 11th in 100, 11th in 200); Isabella Riesenfeld (Girls high school, sixth in 800, 11th in 1,500); and Noa Schacter (Girls high school, 10th in 300 hurdles, 11th in high jump, 15th in 100).
