The Boston region is in for milder temperatures and sunny skies to kick off the week before another round of heat and humidity are expected to return heading into the next weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

“After (Sunday)’s storms, we’re really looking at really beautiful weather,” said NWS meteorologist Kyle Pederson. “The first half of the work week might even be like top 10 weather days for southern New England.”

On Monday, the Boston area is expected to see sunny skies and a warm high in the upper 70s to start the week, forecasts show. Skies are forecasted to remain clear into the night, with a cool low in the upper 50s.

Tuesday will likely see similar weather, with mostly clear cool weather heading into the night.

“High pressure and a drier air mass” are moving through the region during the first two days, Pederson said, translating to the “quite comfortable” milder highs and dew points in the low 50s.

“So it should be two fantastic days,” said Pederson. “You’re happy if you’re taking time off.”

Wednesday temperatures are expected to warm up into the low 80s but remain “not bad,” Pederson said, with humidity still low at a dew point in the mid-50s.

Thursday warms up quite a bit during a mostly sunny day, with a high expected to reach 90 degrees in Boston, NWS states. The humidity is also set to rise, with a dew point back up to the mid-60s, Pederson said.

“Then it’s back to hot and humid weather Friday and Saturday,” said Pederson. “Actually, Friday, you’ve got a high at Boston of 96 and then it’s going to feel like a high of 104, 105 degrees in the city.”

The heat Friday looks like the “main hazard of the week,” the meteorologist said.

The chance for precipitation is also set to return Friday, with showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon, according to NWS forecasts.

The chance for rain is preliminarily expected to remain into the weekend, forecasts show.

“Saturday, not quite as warm for Boston,” said Pederson. “I have 86 degrees, though that’s still a ways out. Feels like temperature should be around the low 90s.”
