Center Steven Adams has agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract extension to remain with the Houston Rockets.

Adams, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent on June 30, has been with the Rockets since a trade from Memphis in February 2024.

Adams became an important contributor in the playoffs, where he averaged 22.1 minutes per game with 5.7 points and 6.6 rebounds.

Clark, Fever defeat Liberty >> Caitlin Clark scored 25 of her season-high 32 points in the first half and in her return after a five-game absence due to injury helped lead Indiana to a 102-88 win over New York.

Clark finished 11-for-20 shooting including tying her career-high with seven made 3-pointers in 14 attempts.

College baseball

LSU tops Arkansas in CWS >> Kade Anderson limited Arkansas’ high-powered offense to three hits and a run in seven-plus innings, LSU knocked Razorbacks ace Zach Root out of the game early, and the Tigers beat the rival Razorbacks 4-1 in the College World Series.

LSU (49-15), which won the SEC regular-season series against the Razorbacks in Baton Rouge last month, improved to 4-0 in all-time CWS meetings.

UCLA defeats Murray State to advance in CWS >> Roman Martin and AJ Salgado drove in two runs apiece to lead UCLA to a 6-4 victory over a Murray State team making its College World Series debut.

The Bruins, in the CWS for the first time since they won the championship in 2013, built a 6-0 lead before the Racers began chipping away at it in the middle innings.

F1 extends Las Vegas GP through 2027 >> The Las Vegas Grand Prix received a two-year contract extension that keeps the race that runs down the iconic Strip on the calendar through 2027.

Las Vegas was on the 2026 calendar announced earlier this week even though the extension wasn’t revealed until the Canadian Grand Prix.

Thompson shares lead at Meijer LPGA Classic >> Lexi Thompson birdied two of the final three holes in the Meijer LPGA Classic for a share of the third-round lead with five others in her bid to win for the first time in just over six years.

Thompson shot a 4-under 68, rebounding with birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 after driving into the water and making a bogey on the par-5 14th. She’s in contention at Blythefield County Club a year after losing a playoff to Lilia Vu on the tree-lined course.

At 11-under 205, Thompson was tied with Nanna Koerstz Madsen (68), Madelene Sagstrom (67), Sofia Garcia (68), Hye-Jin Choi (69) and Carlota Ciganda (69).

Quakes draw in Portland >> Preston Judd came off the bench and scored a shorthanded goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to rally the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers on Friday night..

San Jose (6-7-5) earned a point despite being forced to play a man down from the 52nd minute on after midfielder Ian Harkes was tagged with a second yellow card.

Banda’s goal leads Orlando to win over Bay FC >> In the span of two minutes Friday, Bay FC went from inches away from going up a goal to giving up a head-scratcher in a 1-0 loss.

Taking advantage of a delayed reaction to a foul, Orlando quickly played the ball up to Barbra Banda, whose shot from deep in the box bounced off Abby Dahlkemper, then Kelli Hubly, and found its way past Bay FC goalkeeper Emmie Allen.

Keys loses at Queen’s Club >> Madison Keys was stunned in straight sets by 37-year-old qualifier Tatjana Maria in the Queen’s Club semifinals.

Maria, a German mother of two, beat Keys 6-3, 7-6 (3) for her first career victory in four meetings with the reigning Australian Open champion.

Queen’s is a grass-court tournament players also use to prepare for Wimbledon later this month.
