Eighteen girls basketball players from Boulder and Broomfield counties — along with Mead, Erie and Frederick — all put together strong enough seasons to make CHSAA’s all-state lists.
Peak to Peak’s Alexandra Eschmeyer, the Daily Camera player of the year, was one of just two local ladies to make first team, along with Holy Family’s Gracie Ward, in Class 4A.
Mead’s Madi Clark, the Times-Call player of the year, graced second team in Class 5A.
During her swan song with the Pumas, Eschmeyer averaged 27 points and 13.5 rebounds per game, numbers that were good enough to earn her a spot in the McDonald’s All-American Game earlier this week. Ward, in her junior campaign, scored 14.0 PPG and 3.0 RPG, and played a major role in the Tigers’ run to the final four as an expert point guard.
Clark, as just a sophomore, led the Mavericks to their own final four appearance with 12.9 PPG and 5.6 RPG. She led a duo of second-teamers, including Legacy senior Olivia Mortensen (23.7 PPG, 13 RPG) in 6A.
The rest of the local representatives made honorable mention. Broomfield led the 6A contingent thanks to freshman Reece Gilpatrick (14.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG), senior Olivia Kim (11.9 PPG, 2.2 RPG), junior Paige Gilpatrick (10.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG) and senior Sydney Deem (6.7 PPG, 4.1 RPG). They were joined by Boulder sophomore Lexi Oder (14.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG) and Monarch sophomore Sienna Williams (19.2 PPG, 15.3 RPG).
Mead senior Darby Haley (10.9 PPG, 2.7 RPG), Frederick senior Zoe Wittler (13 PPG, 4.2 RPG) and Silver Creek sophomore Avery White (16.3 PPG, 11.4 RPG) all paved their way onto 5A honorable mention, just as Jefferson Academy senior Elsa Nygren (11.4 PPG, 8.9 RPG) made waves in 4A.
Lyons sophomore Ava Vasquez (9.9 PPG, 13.0 RPG) made waves in 3A, but Twin Peaks Classical Academy was a tsunami in the 2A honorable mentions thanks to juniors Kaleigh Van Pelt (15.4 PPG, 6.1 RPG), Fernanda Puerta-Sarinara (5.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG) and Elizabeth Zeh (3.3 PPG, 5.2 RPG).
