At least 13 businesses in Mokena, Frankfort and Tinley Park were targeted in smash-and-grab burglaries early Friday morning, according to the Mokena Police Department.
Mokena police said a smash-and-grab crew targeted businesses in the Lincoln-Way area, which includes New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, Manhattan and smaller portions of Tinley Park, Orland Park and Homer Glen. Police said at least seven businesses in Mokena — six on Route 30 and one on La Grange Road — were hit, along with three businesses in Frankfort and three more in Tinley Park.
Frankfort police said they responded to the 20200 block of La Grange Road at 4:30 a.m. for a reported burglary. A witness told dispatchers multiple people pulled up in a grey sedan and began smashing the glass of three businesses in the complex, police said.
The people entered the buildings, took items and drove away before officers arrived, Frankfort police said.
Police said officers followed a suspect vehicle to Chicago, but the people inside were not caught.
Mokena police ask anyone with information to call the Police Department at 708-479-3912 or Frankfort police at 815-469-9435.
