Napa restaurant Heritage Eats will close at the end of March, owner Ben Koenig has announced.
“This is a hard thing to write, but the time has come to close the book on Heritage Eats,” Koenig wrote in an online message on Feb. 21.
Founded in 2015, Heritage Eats serves a variety of different cultural cuisines, including burgers, boba drinks, tacos and salads — along with special “destinations” menus focused on specific cultures, such as a Germany-inspired menu in November 2025. Located at 3824 Bel Aire Plaza, the restaurant underwent a major renovation earlier last year, and reopened in May as Heritage Kitchen and Taps with a shift to sit-down service and an added bar with tap beer and wine.
Koenig said in the message, posted Saturday to social media platforms and the restaurant’s website, that a new restaurant concept, George & Kin’s, will open in the Bel Aire Plaza space in April, following the Heritage Eats closure. The new restaurant will be named after Koenig’s great aunt and uncle and “bridges my Japanese heritage with my East Coast upbringing,” he wrote.
“It tells the story of my great aunt and uncle, George and Kinuko, who brought my mom in as a young child and raised her on their farm in Pocatello, Idaho,” Koenig wrote. “They were the closest thing to grandparents that my sisters and I ever had. We will have more to share on what George & Kin’s will be over the next little while, but, for now, the focus is on Heritage Eats because it deserves it.”
