Center Line Public Library

•The Macomb Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (MLBPD) will host Vision Network meetings this summer for those that are blind, have low vision and their caregivers from 10 a.m.-noon at the Main Library.

• Shark Day 1-4 p.m. July 14 at the Main Branch with games, crafts, and photo ops. Children may stop by the Main Library between 1-4 p.m. Teens may enjoy some shark fun between 2-4 p.m. No registration required.

• Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to an after-hours game night at the South Branch at 6 p.m. July 19. Games to win special tickets for the final (and most important) game of the night — candyball! • Summer Reading Challenge through Aug. 9. This reading challenge is for all ages, from babies to senior citizens. Participants are asked to read for 45 days to complete the program. Babies, children, and teens will receive a free book just for registering for the program. Adults will be entered to win a $25 when they register. the library is offering raffle tickets when participants complete reading for 20 days and 45 days for a variety of prizes. • Friends of the St. Clair Shores Public Library are putting on a major 50 percent off inventory clearance sale through July 31. Books, DVDs, magazines, puzzles, and more are all on sale in the Library’s Reading Lounge.

• The youth services department, with the help of grant funding, has created 14 explorer packs for children and families to check out. Each pack contains learning tools, non fiction books, activity sheets, identification guides and other manipulatives centered on an outdoor activity. Topics include insects, bird watching, astronomy water, hiking, plants and rocks. To check out an Explorer pack or for more information, ask at the Youth Services Desk.

• Library cardholders can reserve a time to use the Maker’s Space by appointment. Look for Maker Space Lab on the program calendar.

Warren Public Libraries

• Summer Reading Club through Aug. 9. Patrons of all ages—babies, kids, teens, and adults—are invited to join us this summer for our Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Color our World. Everyone will have a chance to win prizes just by reading. Win tickets for some great prizes. • All Warren public library branches will be able to offer a telescope for patrons to check out with a valid library card thanks to being selected to be part of NASA @ My Library, an education initiative to increase and enhance science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) opportunities for library patrons. The Warren Civic Center library will offer telescope events throughout the year as well.

Warren Burnette Branch Library

• Garden Club will meet outside behind the library at the raised garden beds at 9:30 a.m. July 16 for weeding and maintenance. Members can be all ages, however, we do suggest children be at least five years old to participate. We also recommend bringing a pair of gloves, a water bottle, and a hat or sunglasses. • Fiber Arts Meetup 6-7:30 p.m. July 17. Anyone ages 16 and up who crochets, felts, quilts, or creates with any other type of fiber art is welcome for fun and conversation. There will be no instruction, projects, or supplies provided. Registration requested; drop-ins welcome.

• Sunken Settlements of Lake St. Clair at 6 p.m. July 24. Discuss the history and rediscovery of the early 19th century communities of the village of Belvidere and church of St. Felicity on the shores of Lake St. Clair and the unintended consequences that lead their loss below the lake’s waters within just a few decades of their founding. Dr. Harrison will also bring copies of his new book, ‘Michigan’s Venice: The Transformation of the St. Clair Flats, 1640 — 2000 for signing and sale. Cost of book is $35, cash or check. Warren Busch Branch Library

• Grab-and-Go Science at Busch Branch Library has science themed kits available for check out exploring topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with fun and kid-friendly hands on activities. Each kit also contains a related book and instructions. For children, tweens and teens ages six and up, recommended ages vary by kit and activity. More kits will be added to the collection soon. They can be checked out for 21 days and renewed up to two times and must be checked out and returned to the Busch Branch.

Warren Civic Center Library

• Messy Art Club 10 a.m. Tuesdays through August 12. Those ages 2-6 can listen to a story and create a new messy art project each week. Registration required.

• Children’s Book Boxes, a subscription box program for children in grades 3-5. To sign up you must live in Warren and have a valid Warren Library card. Each box will contain 1-2 library books selected based on your preferences and one free book to keep. Boxes will contain fun surprises too! Sign up online at warrenlibrary.net/childrens-book-boxes.

• PAWS To Read 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays. Children of all ages can read to therapy dog Desmond. The PAWS program welcomes new and struggling readers to read to a certified therapy dog. The goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in which kids can read without correction or interruption and learn not just to read, but to love reading as well. No registration required.

All Macomb County libraries, as part of the Suburban Library Cooperative, subscribe to RB Digital which has over 100 digital magazines that can be checked out immediately. They also offer educational services through Tutor.com, which provides homework help, test preparation and term paper and resume review. Students can use their student ID number to access those services.
