Gary Don Middlebrooks passed away on December 13, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO, with loved ones by his side.

Gary was born to Clio "Tootie" Raynell Middlebrooks and Pauline Middlebrooks on June 18, 1946, in Muleshoe, TX. He was a dedicated, compassionate and generous father to Nicholas Ross Middlebrooks and Travis James Middlebrooks. He was a loving brother to Linda Middlebrooks Chapman of Lubbock, TX and Tena Landers-Clark of Pampa, TX.

Gary spent his adolescence in Muleshoe, TX, playing in the neighborhoods with his childhood friends and sister Linda.

He went on to study accounting at Texas Tech University from 1964 to 1968. He then was drafted into the military, serving from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. He moved to Houston, TX, to work for Texaco, spending several years working on assignments throughout Europe. In 1978, he married Penny Taylor in Houston, TX, The family relocated to Denver, CO, in the summer of 1990. The couple divorced in 1998.

Gary retired from his professional career in 2003 and moved to Lafayette, CO, to be closer to his two sons.

Gary remained active until his passing, enjoying golf and pickleball. He was a huge sports fan, following football, baseball, and basketball. He continued to follow Texas Tech athletics throughout his life and enjoyed attending live sporting events, including many Colorado Buffaloes football and basketball games with his sons.

Gary is survived by his two sons, Nick and Travis, and Travis's two sons, Parker James Middlebrooks and Brady Theodore Middlebrooks, who will remember him as a great father and grandfather. May Gary's memory bring joy to all who knew him. He leaves a legacy of generosity and a big heart. His passion for life and care for his family will be greatly missed.
