Man goes missing after leaping into sea
SANTA CRUZ >> A man went missing Tuesday after he jumped from a cliff into the ocean north of Santa Cruz, authorities said.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. at Wilder Ranch State Park, according to the Santa Cruz Fire Department. Witnesses said strong currents and waves prevented him from swimming back to shore.
Agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, California State Parks and Cal Fire searched for the man, but he had not been found as of 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Fire Department said.
The man was not publicly identified Tuesday.
