High flyer? >> If a new stadium is built for the Broncos, it should be modeled after the Atlanta Braves’ new ballpark, with shopping, housing, restaurants and corporate offices all part of the sports complex. Build it near Denver International Airport.

Arthur, Gulfport, Miss.

Kiz >> Here’s where you are 100% correct: Leveraging a stadium to increase the value of surrounding land by making the Broncos the centerpiece of everything from condos to restaurants to business space would be a tried-and-true play from the Walmart corporate playbook. Those savvy Walmart folks have long scored big in the real estate game by selling everything from baby wipes to bananas on previously undeveloped acreage that soon attracts other business. But here’s where you’re 100% wrong: Stretches of Peña Boulevard are slowly turning into a parking lot, as anyone who regularly travels to our little nightmare on the prairie well knows. It would be madness to build a football stadium anywhere near the airport’s road to nowhere without a major investment in alleviating that chronic traffic headache.

Buyer beware >> Mile High at Empower Field is a relatively young stadium. If the Waltons want a centerpiece new stadium, let them pay for it themselves.

Louis, honorable gent

Kiz >> A new stadium would be financed in no small part by the fans who use it most, by selling personal seat licenses to season-ticket holders. And that’s how it should be.

Straight to pros >> It used to be that I liked college football more than the NFL, because football felt like it meant more at the college level, because of school pride and traditional rivalries. College now just seems like a stepping stone to the NFL, with unlimited transfers and what-not. Once conference realignment is finally settled, college football may have more stories to tell. But for now, I prefer NFL.

Jared, proud Okie

Kiz >> As a kid who fell in love with sports within shouting distance of Touchdown Jesus, my preference has long been college football, where both the tailgates outside the stadium and the imagination shown between the white lines are better. I’m not comfortable with sacking tradition in the name of chasing the name, image and likeness bag through the transfer portal. But I also admit: If the greatest quarterback in Wake Forest’s history wants to move to South Bend and lead TD drives for the Domers, it’s fine by me.

Blurred lines >> The distinction between college and pro football grows smaller every year.

Richard, gridiron poet

Kiz >> Am I the only one who feels this way? The two-minute warning of the last NFL game on Sunday has scarred my soul with anxiety, as an unavoidable reminder to set that dang alarm for school or work on Monday morning.

Nay on VJ >> And today’s parting shot sounds as if some folks in Broncos Country might never forgive Vance Joseph for losing 21 of 32 games as head coach in Denver from 2017-18.

When Sean Payton hired that loser Joseph as his defensive coordinator, I gave up all hope for the Broncos. Joseph’s defenses have been pushed all over the field.
