School board elects Rajpal as president, Niznik as vice president

The Boulder Valley school board at this week’s meeting swore in its four newly elected members and elected new officers.

Nicole Rajpal was elected as the president, Beth Niznik as vice president and Alex Medler as treasurer. Sworn in were Medler, Jason Unger, Lalenia Quinlan Aweida and Jorge Chávez.

Both Rajpal and board member Kitty Sargent ran for the president position, with Rajpal chosen by a secret ballot vote. Niznik was the only one nominated as vice president and was chosen by a unanimous vote.

Rajpal was elected to the school board in 2021 and previously served on the BVSD District Accountability Committee.

“I will bring a perspective that really elevates all of the members of this board, finds a role for everyone to participate fully, to be heard, to be engaged, to be valued within the board itself and within the community,” she said. “It’s definitely my leadership style to share the leadership.”
