ROCHESTER HILLS
Free trees offered to residents
Rochester Hills’ residents can reserve trees to plan on their property during the annual Spring Community Canopy program.
The city will distribute up to two trees for each request. Residents must plant them in an area suggested by an online tool and agree to care for them.
Residents can register to pick up one or two trees online at arborday.org/rochesterhills.
Available trees include river birch, serviceberry, red oak, redbud, and sycamore, and available while supplies last.
Since 2020, the city has given away 200 trees each spring and 200 trees each fall. The city also has a yearly street-tree giveaway that started in 1988 and provided 11,000 trees to the community, according to a city spokesman.
