The Marin Athletic Foundation is set to honor 25 student athletes — including at least two from each high school in Marin — with Eva & Mario Ghilotti Outstanding Student Athlete Awards at a banquet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael.

“Students who are nominated for this prestigious award are first and foremost a top athlete and a model for their teammates in promoting the success of the team both on and off the field,” the Foundation said in a press release. “Team contributions include captain, league recognitions and related special honors. These students have demonstrated a record of academic success, leadership in the accomplishment of established goals, are a positive role model for other students, and are involved in school and community activities other than athletics and academic areas.”

The 2023-24 honorees from each school are: Archie Williams (Loretta Hovey, Malcolm John McKenzie and Alexander McKenzie); The Branson School (Logan Tusher and Jase Butler); Marin Academy (Kate Lane and Malcolm Zalayet); Marin Catholic (Audrey Carr and Peter Macaulay); Novato (Jacqueline Merola and Nicholas McAuley); Redwood (Jaden Hendrickson and Jake Vasquez); San Domenico (Summer Jenkins and Joaquin Foster); San Marin (Emma Rogers and Vaughn Miguel); San Rafael (Angel Amesa and Lazlo Clements); Tam (Maren Jones and Auvin Cole); Terra Linda (Olivia Brewster and Jonah Truett), and Tomales (Natalia Gutierrez and Noel Gutierrez).

“MAF has a loyal group of donors that believe strongly in education and sports,” MAF Board of Directors and OSA Scholarship Chairperson Mike Gorton said in a release. “These student athletes have accomplished so much in their short high school careers. They are amazing athletes and great students who also spend a lot of time in their communities making a difference. I look forward to what they can accomplish as they are launched into life.”
