Undocumented arrests

Re “Immigration raids aren’t just about immigration” (July 13):

The article claims ICE agents’ appearance in combat gear and armored vehicles at McArthur Park was a deliberate government show of force intended to intimidate people — not so. Sanctuary polices exacerbate the problem that result in the arrest of undocumented immigrants without a criminal record. Border czar Tom Homan explained it in January. When you release a public safety threat out of a sanctuary jail and they will not give us access to him, we have to go into the neighborhood. He may be with others that do not have a criminal conviction but are in the country illegally therefore they will also be arrested. Los Angeles police are prohibited from assisting with enforcement of federal immigration law. This places the burden of security on the ICE officers. Armored vehicles and tactical gear are necessary for their own safety.

No debate on ICE face masks

Mr. Perez’s article on 13 July stating that ICE agents should not wear a face mask illustrates the lunacy from the left. In watching protesters throw supplied rocks, fireworks and other projectiles, their faces in most instances are covered. Law enforcement should be entitled to protection and this includes face covering to prevent retribution towards them / their families. This only makes sense, which Mr. Perez lacks. I would think, that based on his position, he should push for legislation that burglars, bank robbers and rapists, along with those “peaceful protesters” be prohibited from wearing face masks. How would that work out for you? Start the campaign or don’t be a hypocrite.

Threat to democracy has arrived

The fears about the looming threat to democracy have proven true ... although not Trump’s doing whatsoever.

The judiciary exhibits control over every aspect of law enforcement and any other action by the executive or legislative branch. What percentage of our judiciary are actually elected? Yet they are empowered to invoke their ideology over the precedent of law. If you question this assertion, please just answer the following question: How many laws are you allowed to violate if you can simply claim to have successfully avoided them for 10 or more years?
