


Arenado reports to camp after the Cardinals tried to trade him
JUPITER, Fla.>> St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado reported to spring training on Sunday, showing up to play for a team that spent much of the offseason trying to trade him.
The eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner is owed $74 million for the next three seasons.
Colorado will pay St. Louis $5 million this year, the final installment of the $51 million the Rockies agreed to pay to offset the $199 million remaining in a nine-year contract worth $275 million to finalize a trade four years ago.
The Cardinals could not move him and his contract, which gives Arenado a full no-trade provision.
Arenado is coming off a season that was not up to his standards, hitting .272 with 16 home runs and 71 RBIs.
Pham and Pirates finalize 1-year $4M contract
BRADENTON, Fla.>> Outfielder Tommy Pham and the Pittsburgh Pirates finalized a one-year contract worth $4,025,000 on Sunday. Pham, 36, split last season among the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals, hitting .248 with 20 doubles, nine home runs and 39 RBIs.
RHP Junis and Guardians finalize $4.M, 1-year deal
GOODYEAR, Ariz. >> Right-hander Jakob Junis and the Cleveland Guardians finalized their $4.5 million, one-year contract on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Junis declined his part of an $8 million mutual option with Cincinnati in November in favor of a $3 million buyout. The Reds acquired him in July in a trade. He had a 2.85 ERA in five starts and nine relief appearances for Cincinnati, finishing the season 4-0 with a 2.69 ERA in six starts and 18 relief outings.
Leonard wins the Chubb Classic
NAPLES, Fla.>> Justin Leonard won the Chubb Classic for his first PGA Tour Champions win with a back-nine charge Sunday on Tiburon’s Black Course.
Leonard birdied five of the last seven holes for a 4-under 68 and a four-stroke victory over Billy Andrade.
Niemann wins Adelaide
ADELAIDE, Australia>> Joaquin Niemann won his third LIV Golf title when he closed with a 7-under 65 on Sunday to erase a three-shot deficit and win LIV Golf Adelaide by three shots.
Seven more massage therapists accuse Tucker
BALTIMORE>> Seven more massage therapists have accused Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker of sexually inappropriate conduct, the Baltimore Banner reported Sunday.
The news website says a total of 16 massage therapists from eight spas have now shared accounts. Tucker has said he has never received any complaints.
No. 6 DU splits series with No. 17 North Dakota
No. 6 University of Denver hockey team lost to the No. 17 North Dakota Fighting Hawks 3-1 on Saturday night at Magness Arena.
Carter King had the only goal for the Pioneers.
On Friday night, DU (21-8-1, 10-7-1) beat North Dakota (15-12-2, 10-7-1) 4-0. Sophomore defenseman Boston Buckberger recorded three points and goaltenders Matt Davis and Freddie Halyk combined for the Pioneer’s second shutout of the season.
