Todrick Hall

The singer, choreographer and YouTube star got his big break on the ninth season of “American Idol” in 2009. Though he was eliminated in the semifinals of the reality show, his YouTube following continued to grow as he uploaded original songs, parodies and skits. Hall was the subject of the 2015 MTV documentary “Todrick,” which provided insight into his video-making process. He has appeared as a guest judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and produces his own music.

War

The band fuses rock, funk, jazz, Latin, rhythm and blues, psychedelia and reggae. It started in Long Beach in 1969. In its formative years, Eric Burdon, the former frontman of the Animals, played a few shows with the band, including one with Jimi Hendrix two days before his death. War is known for hits such as “Low Rider (On the Boulevard),” “Slippin’ into Darkness” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends.”

Lionel Richie

The singer, songwriter, record producer and TV personality’s first successful music stint was as the lead singer of the Commodores. He wrote and produced the hit “Lady” for Kenny Rodgers in 1980, which Richie sang as a duet with Diana Ross. He has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Hits include “All Night Long (All Night),” “I Call It Love” and “Endless Love.”

Los Socios del Ritmo

The group formed in the Mexican state of Campeche in the ’60s and is known for playing cumbia and musica romantica. It found success while fronted by Ruben Baeza, who died in 1994. Notable songs include “Chilito Piquin,” “Mambo #8,” “Vamos a platicar” and “Mira lo que son las cosas (Yaco Monti).”
