A different ‘Dilbert’
Bring back Scott Adams’ cartoon in equal colors of white and black. Call it “Gray’s Anatomy.”

‘Dilbert’ at work
The cartoon “Dilbert” reminded me of my 58 years in the work force before my retirement last year. It always made me smile. There was never any political commentary in his cartoons. The “Loose Parts” comic replacing “Dilbert” is not an adequate replacement. Please reconsider bringing him back.

Biden’s choices
Re “Eric Garcetti and Julie Su are poor picks” (editorial, Feb. 28):
I will only address Eric Garcetti’s ambassadoreial nomination by President Biden. This is such a poor choice by Biden. But is it a surprise? Of course not. Biden is out of touch, lacks good judgment, and is manipulated by the far left wing of the socialist Democratic Party. Yes, look at the mess Garcetti has created in California as mayor and the lack of successful programs and the corruption in the city of Los Angeles.
It is a disgrace to consider rewarding incompetence.

All-knowing Greene
“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government,” Marjorie Taylor Greene, the all-knowing claims. As we hear about the “national divorce” idea proposed by the far right and the need of red states to pull away from the dangerous blue, a quick look at a few statistics clearly shows it to be on the crazy side as usual. Whether we study healthcare, taxes, gun violence, we become aware of the need to work together to improve the lives of the people in need.
Sadly, about 700 women die each year in the United States as a result of pregnancy or delivery complications that could be improved. We hear how much Republicans care for the “unborn,” yet where are they when it comes to maternal mortality and infant mortality? Twenty red states fall to the bottom 25 out of 50 in maternal mortality rates, while 21 red states are in the bottom 25 in infant mortality. Not a very caring record.

A fine Washington deed
Re: “Presidents’ Day” (Letters, Feb. 22):
Besides Chris Moore’s thoughts as expressed in his letter, I’d also like to honor George Washington for a deed which became the first in world history from a head of state.
Unlike throughout Europe where Jews were persecuted and tormented, Washington offered them political and civic emancipation with these words: “May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in this land ... enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants, while everyone shall sit in safety under his own ... fig tree. And there shall be none to make him afraid.”
Sadly, as evidenced by the vicious anti-Semitic crimes we are witnessing today, far too many Americans have chosen to forget that great man’s words.

Putin’s war
Re “A year into a war, a more disastrous path could loom,” Feb, 24:
Great article about the one-year anniversary of the terrible war against Ukraine. Well-documented, with excellent projections as to what will happen in the future with Russia, the aggressor, and Ukraine the defender.
With this war being thousands and thousands of miles away from us here in Southern California, without news in your paper, and occasional reporting in the electronic media, we tend to forget about it as we go about our daily lives. As this war is now second in history to only WWII, what a shame.
If you think about it, Putin’s goal is to take all of Ukraine’s land as he believes it is Russia’s land.
And, the only way he can take this land is to kill the people occupying it. Only then, can he take their land for Russia’s needs, whatever they may be.
To open our eyes, it would be excellent if the amount of Ukrainian and Russian deaths could be reported, boldly, to stun us.
