CSU’s Clifford nabs Mountain West first-team all-conference selection

Nique Clifford leads a trio of Colorado players who were named to this year’s Mountain West all-conference men’s basketball teams.

The 6-foot-6 senior guard, who starred at The Vanguard School in Colorado Springs, was named to the all-defensive team and was an all-conference first-team selection.

Air Force senior guard Ethan Taylor made the third team and Wyoming senior guard Obi Agbim — who starred at Rangeview High School, Fort Lewis College and Metro State before joining the Cowboys — was also a third-team selection and named the Mountain West newcomer of the year.

Colorado State sophomore guard Kyan Evans was an honorable mention.

Manchester United reveals plans for “world’s greatest” soccer stadium

LONDON >> Manchester United unveiled plans to build the “world’s greatest” soccer stadium.

A proposed 100,000-seater arena, costing around $2.6 billion, would be built next to United’s current Old Trafford home and surpass Wembley Stadium as the biggest in the United Kingdom.

Work could begin as early as this year, with completion by the 2030-31 season, the club said.

Bridgeman, businessman and standout for Louisville and Bucks, dies at 71

LOUISVILLE, Ky. >> Junior Bridgeman, a basketball standout who led Louisville to a Final Four, starred for the Milwaukee Bucks and then launched an even more successful career as a businessman with stakes in restaurants, publishing and the Bucks franchise, died Tuesday. He was 71.

Bridgeman was a popular fixture in Louisville after his playing days. According to media reports, Bridgeman suffered a medical emergency at a Louisville hotel during a fundraising event Tuesday.

Woman drops lawsuit accusing boxing champion Mike Tyson of 1991 rape

SYRACUSE, N.Y. >> A woman who accused Mike Tyson of raping her in a limousine in 1991 is dropping her lawsuit against the former heavyweight boxing champion, according to a letter filed in U.S. District Court.

The letter from Tyson’s attorney, Daniel Rubin, said the accuser’s attorney “has informed me that plaintiff is withdrawing her complaint and voluntarily discontinuing” the case.

British boxer Chris Eubank Jr. fined $130,000 for hitting rival with an egg

LONDON >> British boxer Chris Eubank Jr. has been fined $130,000 for smashing an egg into the face of rival Conor Benn during a media event two weeks ago.

The British Boxing Board of Control said Tuesday that Eubank was fined after being found “in breach of Regulation 25 for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester.”

The fighters had gone face-to-face as part of the promotion of their scheduled April 26 middleweight bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Piastri signs multi-year extension at McLaren

WOKING, England>> Oscar Piastri has signed a “multi-year” contract extension with McLaren, the F1 team said Tuesday.

The announcement came five days before the first race of the new season at Piastri’s home Australian Grand Prix.

Piastri was already under contract at McLaren until the end of next season.
