Resident of San Jose
Kathy Heihn, a lifelong resident of San Jose, California, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in San Jose, Kathy was married to the love of her life, Bob, for 36 wonderful years. Their bond was a source of joy and strength, and together they built a life full of love and cherished memories.
Kathy began her career after graduating from Del Mar High School, SJSU, and Golden Gate University by working as a speech pathologist and then a paralegal. She was hired by FMC/United Defense/BAE Systems, where she met her husband Bob, as a Price Analyst and eventually became a Sr. Contract Specialist. Kathy was a dedicated and valued employee at FMC/United Defense/BAE Systems, where she worked for 26 years until her retirement in 2010. In addition to her professional career, Kathy was passionate about giving back to the community. For over 10 years, she volunteered at Gifts for Teens, a cause close to her heart, where she worked to bring joy to those in need during the holiday season. Kathy also served as Treasurer at Gifts for Teens for several years.
After she and Bob retired, they often traveled to Hawaii and Santa Barbara and helped out and attended many sporting events and tournaments (softball, cross country and basketball) for cousin Kym’s daughter, Hannah. Kathy was an avid reader, beautiful crocheter, and made an amazing chocolate pie.
Kathy is survived by husband Bob, nephews Brian and Scott Coman, niece Patty, cousins Jeff Glaze (Marta), Kymberly Fennell (Chris), and Cyndi Fletcher (Robert). Her warmth, compassion, and selfless nature will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Gerry and Howard Allen, her sister Karen Coman, and her aunt and uncle Nancy and Harry Glaze.
