La Conner, Washington
Tom Day born November 8, 1948 passed away unexpectedly at his home May 14, 2025 in La Conner, WA. Survived by his wife Kate of 37 years, sons Ryan (Veronica), Sean (Lesley) and daughter Chrissy (Sean). Tom loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren Kevin and Zac Eling, Blake and Evan Day, and Carter and Riley Taylor Day. Tom, son to Ben and Doris Day, grew up in Mill Valley, graduating from Tamalpais High School in 1967. In the 70’s Tom was a volunteer fireman with the Larkspur Fire Department where he made many lifelong friends. Tom began his career working for the Golden Gate Bridge. He knew he was extremely fortunate to be able to have access to the top of the towers. He loved the view of his favorite place, the San Francisco Bay. He then took the position of Corporate Sales Manager at Hills Brothers Coffee. He often joked that he purchased everything except the coffee. After a successful corporate career, Tom decided to start his own Sales and Distributing company. Tom had a lifelong passion for fast cars and racing. His Thanksgiving tradition was to take his sons to the International Car show in SF. In 2013 he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Forever grateful to the stellar team at UCSF, Tom knew his miracle began with the efforts made by Dr. Catherine Kouchakji of WA. After raising his family in Novato, Tom and Kate moved to Sonoma. Then they moved north to Hidden Valley Lake, CA. Tom felt he was on vacation living on the lake. Four years ago they moved to La Conner, Washington. Once again by the water, he and Kate lived with their beloved dogs and cats.
