Lil Baby is arrested on suspicion of gun violation

Rapper Lil Baby was arrested in Las Vegas after police accused him of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

The Atlanta-born rapper, whose real name is Dominique Jones, was taken into custody on the Las Vegas Strip just before dawn Monday, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Details about what led to the arrest weren’t immediately released.

Lil Baby has not been formally charged with the crime, which is a felony in Nevada, and was released from custody after posting bond, court records show. He is due in court in Las Vegas on Oct. 1.

Mariah Carey’s mother, sister die on same day

Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia, and sister Alison both died on the same day, the singer said Monday.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy-winning singer said in a statement.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” the statement continued. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

The Times Union reported Monday that Alison, who was largely estranged from Carey, died at 63 from complications of organ function and that she had been in hospice care.

People Magazine first reported the news of their deaths and Carey’s statement.

Patricia was a Juilliard-trained opera singer whom Carey credits as an inspiration to her from a young age.

“I would sing little tunes around the house, to my mother’s delight. And she always encouraged me,” she wrote in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”

Deep Purple singer admits ‘farewell’ tour was phony

Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan is admitting that his band faked a farewell tour in order to sell more tickets.

Gillan told SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk in a new interview that Deep Purple’s 2017 The Long Goodbye Tour purposely led fans to believe the band was retiring. It’s still touring and even has concerts booked through 2026.

“That was a joke, actually, because it was the promoters,” Gillan said. “And someone said, ‘We’ve gotta sell some more.’ And it’s the good old standby, the farewell tour. So I said, ‘OK, we’ll call it ‘goodbye’ tour, but let’s call it ‘The Long Goodbye,’ and let’s make the emphasis on the word ‘long,’ so it’s kind of an enigmatic phrase.”

Gillan, 79, added that the group has “no intention to stop” anytime soon, too.
