John Villa was born in Modesto, California toJohn and Teresa Villa. The family moved to San Rafael when John was an infant and he attended local schools, graduating from San Rafael High School in 1950. He spent 31 years as a carpenter and later worked in the construction loan departments of WestAmerica Bank and Bank of Marin.

John served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. While onleave, he travelled to Italy to meet his cousins with whom he kept a close relationship. In 1958 he met Claire Condon and they were happily married for 65 years. They had three children – Steven, Jeanne and Joseph (Beth Dunn), two grandchildren-Joseph Jr. (Kim Wakatsuki) and Jessica (Joseph Defatte) and great grandchild Scottie Defatte.

John was a devoted Dad, an avid hunter, coached Little League, and took his family on camping treks to Graeagle, CA., where they hiked, fished and played golf. He was a member of SIRS, Gruppo Lonatese and the Marin Model A Ford Club. He and Claire travelled toItaly, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Alaska and Canada.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato on Saturday, May 31st at1:30 pm.
