No. 5 Denver Pioneers dominate Omaha 11-2

The No. 5 University of Denver hockey team (19-6-1, 8-5-1 NCHC) dominated Omaha 11-2 on Saturday night at Magness Arena.

The Mavericks (14-11-1, 10-5-1 NCHC) struck early scoring two power-play goals in the first period. After that, it was all DU.

Nine different players scored for the Pioneers. Forwards Rieger Lorenz and James Reeder each had two goals.

Saturday’s showing came on the heels of a 3-3 tie at Magness on Friday night.

Omaha earned the extra point in the conference standings on Friday by winning the best-of-three shootout 4-3 in 16 rounds. It was the longest shootout in both DU and NCHC history.

Clippers trade Tucker and Bamba to the Jazz for Eubanks and Mills

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to the Utah Jazz for Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks.

The Jazz also get a 2030 second-round draft pick and cash as part of the deal, which was completed Saturday.

The move gets the Clippers under the luxury tax threshold and provides potential flexibility for other additions this season.

Trying to complete a wire-to-wire victory for her third LPGA Tour title, Kim had an eagle on the par-5 ninth and birdies on the par-4 14th and the par-4 18th to get to 15-under 201.

Stars acquire Granlund and Ceci from the Sharks

The Dallas Stars acquired center Mikael Granlund and defenseman Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks in the latest in a flurry of trades around the NHL. Dallas sent a 2025 first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick to San Jose.

Use of carbon monoxide rebreathing banned

Cycling’s governing body has banned the repeated use of carbon monoxide rebreathing that some riders misuse to artificially increase their performances.

The UCI said it approved a ban to protect the health of riders. The ban starts on Feb. 10.
