


Cinderella Ball scheduled
Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest will host its annual Cinderella Ball from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Railway Depot and from 6 to 8 p.m. July 14 at the Celebration Rose Pavilion, both on the arboretum grounds, 450 West 100 North, Valparaiso. The father-daughter-themed event will feature princesses, photo opportunities with a horse-drawn carriage, a decorate-your-own-crown station, music and finger foods. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume. Tickets are $10 for adult members, $5 for child members, $15 for adult nonmembers and $10 for child nonmembers. Ticket sales end at 5 p.m. Friday. Party to launch reading program
A “Star Wars”-themed party will kick off the East Chicago Public Library’s Summer Reading Club from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the main branch, 2401 E. Columbus Drive. There will be trivia, games, crafts, refreshments and a special appearance by the Northern Darkness Garrison of the 501st Legion. Hosted in partnership with the Foundations of East Chicago, the party is free and open to all ages. No registration is required. Hospital to host free class
Therapists from Community Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department will present a program on infant massage and baby development from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Community Hospital Fitness Pointe, 9950 Calumet Ave., Munster. Scholarship deadline July 7
The application deadline for the College Bound Scholarship program is July 7. The program provides eligible students with up to $10,500 per year toward tuition at the accredited college or university of their choice in Indiana. Returning students will need to complete an application and provide proof of residence, FAFSA filing and school transcripts. New students must complete an application and provide proof of residence and the date the home was purchased, a letter of acceptance to a college or university, FAFSA filing, school transcripts and an SAT/ACT score. All returning and new students are required to perform 40 hours of community service each year.
