Resident of San Jose

John Demetrios Paros, (native of Thana, Tripolis, Greece) died at Valley Medical Center after a fall and brief illness. He is survived by Ernestine, wife of 60 years, sister Dina Tjirites (Greece), Niece Christina Chianese (N.J.) and many great nieces/nephews and godchildren.

At age 13, John came to the USA, leaving family, brother Angelo (dec.), to help his uncles in Joliet, Illinois (shoemakers) and later went to New Jersey to assist sister Georgia Karagias (dec.) at Bay Bridge Inn. At age 17, John enlisted in the Air Force serving as fire fighter in the Korean War. During his lifetime, John worked hard as a waiter, tour bus driver, warehouseman, bartender, teacher and businessman, and earned a BA and MA in Mathematics, and worked as an aerospace engineer (Lockheed).

In retirement, John enjoyed building, shopping, barbecuing, playing cards, traveling (Greece) and visiting the Sierras at his ranch and self-built cabin.

John, as the son of a Greek Orthodox Priest, was dedicated to God and family. May his spirit live on forever.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Trisagion Service Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:30 P.M. at LIMA-CAM- PAGNA-ALAMEDA MISSION CHAPEL, 600 S. Second Street, San Jose, with Visitation beginning at 5:30 P.M. at the above Chapel. Funeral Service Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at ST. NICHOLAS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 1260 Davis Street, San Jose. Interment to follow at CALVARY CATHOLIC CEMETERY.
