The St. Francis and Palisades boys basketball teams will play a game Sunday at St. Francis High School as part of a fundraising event to support athletes impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles County.
The event is being called “Rebound Together” and will include raffles for prizes and food items for purchase, with the proceeds going to Palisades fire victims and the Eaton Canyon fire fund.
The California Interscholastic Federation, which oversees the state’s high school sports, suspended its rule against athletic competitions on Sundays after dozens of games had to be postponed in the areas devastated by the Palisades fire and Eaton fire.
The St. Francis and Palisades varsity teams will play at 3:30 p.m., following a junior varsity game between the two schools at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase on GoFan on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
Pacific Palisades was devasted by the fires and Palisades High School suffered extensive damage to its campus. Palisades athletic teams are having to hold practices and play games off campus.
Students at St. Francis, located in La Canada Flintridge, lost homes in the Eaton fire.
