BOULDER

Online ‘dashboard’ shows traffic crash data

The Boulder Police Department has launched a new dashboard to help keep the community informed about traffic crashes involving deaths and serious injuries, according to a press release.

The new dashboard shows when and where the crash happened, what types of drivers were involved, a brief description of what happened, the weather conditions, if tickets or charges were filed and the current case status, according to the release. It is meant to focus on the most serious of crashes and will supplement the Boulder Police Department’s current overall traffic crashes dashboard, the release said.

To find the dashboard with Boulder’s other public safety-related data, visit bouldercolorado.gov/crime-dashboard. It was created by Boulder’s Innovation and Technology and police departments.

BOULDER COUNTY

Staffers to discuss plan about county’s future

Boulder County and Boulder staffers will host a joint event on Oct. 19 to kick off a 10-year update of the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan, a document that is used by elected officials to decide on future plans.

The open house will be from from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Dairy Arts Center, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder.

Community members with an interest in the future of Boulder and surrounding neighborhoods and lands, the way the community will look and feel and what is built and how it’s used, are invited to attend. Residents can learn about the plan, share opinions and hear from state demographer Elizabeth Garner.

The event is designed to be family friendly. Spanish translation and interpretation will be available. For more information, go to ABoulderFuture.org.

Residents can fish for prizes on Oct. 19

The Boulder County government will host a junior and senior fishing derby on Oct. 19.

The free drop-in derby is from 9 a.m. at noon at Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat on 75th Street between Jay and Valmont roads just east of Boulder.

Children and seniors are invited to fish together for prizes and fun. Teams need one senior, 65 or older, and one junior, 15 or younger. Prizes will be awarded to the team that catches the heaviest trout, has the largest age difference and is first to catch the limit.

Artificial and live bait are permitted. A wheelchair-accessible pier is available.

Bring your own fishing gear and lawn chairs for seating. Seniors must have a valid Colorado fishing license.
