State finalist Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest and Royal Oak Shrine each had a player named to this year’s Michigan Sports Writers Division 3 All-State girls hoops team.
Crusaders junior Addie Troska and Knights senior Tess Tillman were both second-team selections.
Troska represents Lutheran Northwest following the program’s second banner year in a row. She put up just over 10 points per game, the only Crusader to average double figures for a team that had remarkably balanced offense.
The forward led Lutheran Northwest with a dozen points in the team’s 35-19 quarterfinal win over Sandusky to punch its ticket to the Breslin Center for a second consecutive year. She also led the team in points with eight in the D3 title game against Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.
Meanwhile, Tillman was also a driving force in her team having a successful season, which culminated in Shrine’s first district championship since 2020.
The 5-foot-11 forward averaged 19.8 points, including 22 ppg in CHSL AA league play. That included clips of 81% from the free-throw line and 35.9% from distance. Tillman made over 100 3-pointers throughout the campaign, including a season-high eight made. She knocked down seven threes in a game twice this past year as well.
Harbor Springs’ Olivia Flynn, a Miss Basketball finalist who finished with over 2,000 career points and will play at Western Michigan, was picked as D3 Player of the Year.
Arbor Prep’s Scott Stine was selected as Coach of the Year, with the state champion Gators also earning a pair of first-team selections in Eliza Bush and Angela Meggisson.
