A man on probation was sentenced to time in prison for false imprisonment.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office announced on Jan. 10 that Daniel Hall, 25, was sentenced to four years and four months in state prison after pleading no contest to felony charges of false imprisonment by violence and admitting that he violated his probation on a prior kidnapping charge.

On July 30, 2024, Jane Doe reported that Hall, her boyfriend, physically abused her at her house in Pacific Grove. When Jane Doe separated herself from Hall, he went into her bedroom, took her phone away and proceeded to hold her down and strangle her for approximately one minute.

Jane Doe was able to break free and run into a room with her three juvenile children before calling 911. She had visible injuries on her neck according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.

At the time of the incident, Hall was on formal probation for kidnapping Jane Doe 2, a former girlfriend, in 2023.

Judge Pamela L. Butler sentenced Hall to four years and four months in prison for both cases.

Hall’s grant of probation was terminated. He was sentenced to three years in custody for the prior kidnapping, plus an additional one year and four months for false imprisonment by violence on Jane Doe.
