Lincoln, CA

Martin (Marty) Leonard Krieg passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2024 in Lincoln, CA. Born on June 26th, 1945 in Santa Clara, CA to John Rupert and Alona (Kitty) Krieg, he spent his childhood driving trucks and tractors all over the Krieg Family truck yard and orchard. In 1960 the family relocated to Watsonville. To this day Marty’s family and friends cherish the yearly Easter reunions, weekend BBQ’s, and shenanigans at “The Ranch”, down by the river and surrounding area. Marty graduated from Watsonville High School in 1963 and established himself firmly in the Pajaro Valley.

Marty leaves a legacy of being one of the best heavy equipment operators in the Central California Region. He worked for Granite Construction for many years, taking great pride in his work and in developing the skills of others. He obtained his general contractors license and took pride in owning Martin L. Krieg Backhoe Service. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local Union 3 for many years.

Marty enjoyed surf fishing, golf, tinkering with cars and dune buggies, bbqing, and a long list of other interests. Most of all Marty loved his family and friends. Some of his most favorite and happiest times were camping in his 5th wheel, whether it was to Pismo beach, Lake San Antonio or even Mount Rushmore! Marty loved to laugh and he is responsible for bringing joy to the hearts of many whose lives he touched.

Marty leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Sandy. Married for 47 years, his love for her was something to be appreciated and admired. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Denise and Glenn Dohman of Umatilla, OR, Susan and Justin Bush of Kennewick, WA, and Stacey and PJ Daley of Rocklin, CA. Marty also leaves two sisters, Kathleen Krieg of Rosarito Beach, Baja CA, and Mary (and husband Al) of Visalia CA. He was blessed to have 5 grandsons (Kurt and Bryce Simmons, Steven Wells, Colton Bush and Elliott Daley), one grand-daughter Luciana Daley and two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Watsonville on September 7th at 11am with a lunch reception immediately following at the Lodge. Please join us in sharing memories together to honor Marty, a man who sure did pack a lot of living into his life.
