Eagan, MN and Arcadia, Temple City, Huntington Beach, and Foresthill, CA
Ronald Fred (“Ron”) Dierlam, formerly of Foresthill, CA, beloved husband of Catherine Elizabeth (“Betty”) (Schiff) Dierlam for 55 years, passed into our Lord’s hands on April 15, 2025, at the age of 82, with his wife, Betty at his bedside in Eagan MN. Ron is the son of Roland and Dorothy (Thompson) Dierlam, both predeceased.
He was born in Arcadia Hospital and lived in Arcadia, CA from early childhood, attended Arcadia High School, graduating in 1960. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Texas and scheduled to go to Vietnam; however, his father passed away while Ron was in the service, and was given permission to return home and take care of his aging mother. In 2020, he received a Certificate of Appreciation for his service as a Veteran.
He graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electronics. He was a whiz with a slide rule. He was an active member of the Corvette Club of Southern California and participated in many of their events. In one of his college class projects, he developed an electronic lap-timing instrument in 1970 that was used at many of the Corvette Club’s events.
Ron and Betty were married on June 9, 1970, at the Mission San Gabriel. He and his wife lived in Temple City, Arcadia, and Huntington Beach. Ron is a 3rd generation Pacific Bell (now ATT) employee, and had a long career with them in Southern California, New Jersey, and San Ramon, CA. His wife Betty joined him at ATT, and both retired in 1990 to a home in Todd Valley in Foresthill, CA, where they lived together for 31 years.
They then moved to the Minneapolis area in 2021.
Ron graduated from the Police Academy and during his time in Southern California was a reserve with the Huntington Beach Police Department and later the City of San Gabriel Police Department.
Ron and Betty were avid travelers, taking their RVs across the U.S. and many trips through Mexico to Belize and the Yucatan, and surrounding countries. They took an around-the-world cruise in 1998.
Ron will always be remembered as kind and generous man to all who knew him.
