A Troy city employee and auxiliary volunteer firefighter is facing multiple criminal sexual assault charges against a child.

The alleged victim is a family member of the accused assailant, Brian Dodoro. He’s been put on leave from his job with the city’s Public Works Department and the fire department.

According to the Troy Police Department, the alleged assaults happened multiple times several years ago, but the alleged victim just “recently felt empowered” to come forward. A detailed and thorough investigation was reportedly launched after the police department received information about the alleged assaults.

Dodoro is charged with eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct/assault with intent to commit sexual penetration. The alleged victim was under 13 years old at the time of the alleged assaults.

The investigation didn’t turn up any criminal activity by Dodoro associated with his job or during his work scheduled, the police department stated.

At his arraignment in 52-4 District Court, bond was set at $250,000. As of Friday morning, Dodoro was in the Oakland County Jail.

“The City of Troy is aware of the charges brought against Brian Dodoro and he is currently on leave,” Frank Nastasi, Troy city manager, stated in a news release. “The City takes such allegations seriously and will respect the due process being administered by the Court. We also understand the sensitive nature of this investigation and will continue to maintain such sensitivity to ensure the protection of the victim.”

Dodoro’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 31, for a probable cause conference. A preliminary exam is scheduled for Nov. 7.

A spokesperson for the Troy Police Department told The Oakland Press that, unless an update is warranted, no further information will be provided due to the sensitive nature of the case and in the interest of the alleged victim.
