The Capay Valley community gathered in excitement to celebrate the crowning of the 2025 Almond Queen at the 110th Annual Capay Valley Almond Queen Pageant, a much-anticipated tradition that continues to shine a spotlight on the dedication and talent of local youth.

This year’s successful event was held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Western Yolo Grange in Guinda, with six remarkable contestants competing for the coveted titles of Miss Congeniality, Runner-Up, and Almond Queen.

The evening was filled with energy and enthusiasm as each contestant showcased their poise, grace, and eloquence on stage. The contestants were tasked with reciting speeches on a topic that resonated deeply with the community: “If you were able to bring one business to the Capay Valley that would better benefit the community, what would it be and why?”

The contestants’ thoughtful responses demonstrated a deep understanding of the valley’s needs and a passion for its future.

After a night of powerful speeches and a challenging current events Q&A, the competition concluded with three well-deserved titles. Aileen Oregel-Chavez was named the Runner-Up and awarded a $250 scholarship for her outstanding performance.

The title of 2025 Almond Queen was awarded to Breanna Paris. Paris, who also won the title of Miss Congeniality, earned the top honor along with a $1,000 scholarship.

Paris chose to participate in the pageant as an opportunity to step outside of her comfort zone, experience something new and honor a family tradition. She looks forward to representing her community and supporting the local almond industry through this unique experience.Paris is actively engaged in school and community activities, including livestock judging, link crew, 4-H, FFA, softball, basketball and the EAOP program. She has made the honor roll throughout high school, earning gold in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, receiving multiple showmanship awards, holding officer positions in 4-H, and winning a silver award for her 4-H Record Book.

Paris plans to attend a four-year university to major in animal science or pre-veterinary studies, with aspirations to continue veterinary school and specialize in large animals.

Additionally, in her free time, she enjoys raising and caring for her sheep, three Nigerian Dwarf goats, and her Golden Retriever, Zoey. She also treasures spending time with her family and friends, whether camping or attending family events.

The 2025 Almond Queen Pageant was a true celebration of community spirit and a cherished tradition in the Capay Valley. Once again, congratulations to Runner-Up Oregel-Chavez and Paris, the 2025 Almond Queen and Miss Congeniality.

Last year, Alexis Prado, a dedicated and hardworking student, won the 2024 Almond Queen title. Prado excelled in high school academics and participating in competitive soccer, she dedicated herself to community service and leadership roles, including helping senior citizens with computer skills, assistant coaching for a youth soccer team and taking college-level classes at Woodland Community College.

In 2023, aspiring nurse and student from Madison Rubi Luna was crowned the 2023 Almond Queen. Luna maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and was captain of the varsity cheer team. She was also a member of the Leo’s Club and volunteered at the Madison Food Distribution Center, delivering food to residents.

In 2022, aspiring animator Karla Guijarro won the title of 2022 Almond Queen. Guijarro was a beekeeper for KGBeez and a member of the French club and cheer team at Esparto High School. She planned to attend California State University, Sacramento to get a bachelor’s in art and then attend Cal Arts to major in graphic design, to become an Imagineer or animator for Disney.
